Monday

Make: Electronics
Mondays, 3:45-5:00 PM
3rd-8th graders

Using Charles Platt's manuals, students investigate electronic components and use them in hand-made circuits. They'll learn to solder as well as how to use a breadboard, arduino, raspberry pi, laser cutter and 3D printer.

 

Tuesday

Make: Science
Tuesdays, 3:45-5:00 PM
TK-8th graders

Examine the questions that sparked each scientist’s innovation, recreate his or her apparatus and conduct your own experiment to help you ask better questions, perhaps a question no one has ever asked before! Students who acquire certification on each tool design & fabricate their own projects.

Beginning Band
Tuesdays, 3:45-5:00 PM
5th-8th graders

Students ages 9 and up are invited to choose a wind instrument, either flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, or trombone. (Please ask if you are interested in an instrument not listed.) Students will learn the correct embouchure (shape of the mouth) for their instrument, breathing techniques, how to read music, basic music theory, and how to play as an ensemble. Each band member needs an instrument, Standards of Excellence, Book 1 for his/her instrument and a foldable music stand. Instruments are available to rent at Magic Flute, San Rafael.

Wednesday

Math Club
Wednesdays, 3:45-5:00 PM
K-5th graders

Students drill math facts and master mental computation through games and hands-on activities. They earn stamps to buy prizes at the end of each session in the Stamp Store!

Math Circle
Wednesdays, 3:45-5:00 PM
K-8th graders

Collaborating with Math Circles Network, Math Circle is a community of young mathematicians focused on the enjoyment of mathematical problem solving. Meetings are lively, interactive, and often “funstrating”: challenging, but in a highly rewarding way! Students strategize to solve puzzles, find patterns in number sets, and tackle open-ended problems while learning about mathematicians through history.

Thursday

History through Lego
Thursdays, 3:45-5:00 PM
TK-8th graders

Create models of famous architecture, vehicles and innovations from history with lego bricks! Make stop motion videos based on historical events.

Model United Nations
Thursdays, 3:45-5:00 PM
5th-8th graders

Chronos Academy’s Model United Nations Club is an opportunity for students to learn about and solve world issues by conducting research, writing & delivering speeches, and collaborating with other students from various schools. Each fall and spring, students will participate in a Model United Nations conference and will be eligible for regional and national awards.
