Working Together: Addressing Anxiety in the Family

  • BayMarin Community Church 150 North San Pedro San Rafael, CA United States (map)

Parents of kids of all ages, other concerned adults & teens are invited to an important workshop by Lisa Murphy, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in private practice at Help for Wellness since 2010. Lisa previously worked with teens providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and as the clinical director of a therapeutic boarding school in Central California.

Drawing from scientific and faith-based practice, Lisa will provide information on what the difference is between anxiety that is situational and temporary vs. an anxiety disorder that is more generalized and chronic, how to know what kind of anxiety you're dealing with, and what kind of help you need and when. Through the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, Lisa will demonstrate how to better understand what is happening in your teens' thoughts, feelings, behaviors and physical body when you see their anxiety manifested.  With consideration to teen culture and environment, we will have open discussion and dialogue about what you're seeing and what to do about it. Lisa will also equip you with concrete skills and tools you can use to help your teen navigate through different levels and types of anxiety and stress.

The cost is $25/person. Please register in advance.
