An emphasis on a growth mindset permeates curriculum so students learn the power of “we might not be there yet” as they practice and develop their academic and social skills.

Education to Nurture the Gifted Child

Chronos Academy is the ideal environment for children who love to learn and don’t want to hide it — a place where intellectual and personal gifts are cultivated in an atmosphere of exploration and excitement. We understand that giftedness extends beyond intellect: our teachers are experts in providing intellectual challenges while also addressing the social and emotional needs of our students. We also know that students are who are used to sailing through challenging lessons often do not develop the grit needed to persevere whey they eventually face an academic challenge that doesn’t come easily. Our model makes sure that students are challenged and that they are rewarded for effort and perseverance as well as achievement.

Because they possess some abilities beyond their peers, gifted students frequently experience asynchronous development — pulling ahead in some areas while lagging in others. When their gifts are not supported or nurtured, their questions not welcomed, or their needs not met, they quickly learn to hide their talents and may not reach their full potential. When they are not encouraged to develop a growth mindset, they often experience anxiety or are unable to rise to challenges when they are faced with them.

Chronos Cornerstones

  • Small class sizes with caring teachers who are excited to help our students reach their full potential

  • A school-wide focus on innovative thinkers in the disciplines we study: Math, Science, Art, Music, History, & Philosophy

  • Hands-on, skills-building workshop time every day

  • Individualized attention that allows each student to learn at their own pace

At Chronos, academic challenge and joyful learning are deeply intertwined. Our approach is designed to make the most of our students’ developmental stages, and to respond to each student’s strengths and needs. Our students are given access to an incredible depth and breadth of information, letting each student run as far as they can. Our inclusive classrooms and community offer a vibrant, intellectually stimulating, and enriching experiences for both students and adults.

At Chronos, we believe in completing work at school so that students do not have regular homework. Occasionally, students will work on a project or presentation at home, but as a rule our students have time during the school day to complete their assignments.

“Chronos Academy is the only school that has kept my gifted daughter engaged and challenged.”

Chronos Cohorts

At Chronos, our cohorts – or multi-age classrooms – are intentionally designed to take advantage of our students’ developmental phases. While all of our students are learning the same global context, the information is tailored to each grade level to provide information in a developmentally appropriate way.

Our school is separated into Grammarians (TK-4th Grade)  and Dialecticians (5th-8th Grades). Click below to learn more about our Elementary and Middle School Programs.

Four-Year Iteration

All TK-8th grade students time-travel together through the history of the world, stopping each week to learn the historical events, scientific discoveries, mathematical innovations and artistic works of that time. Chronos Academy’s innovative curriculum makes each week a unit study of a specific time period of history. Because all of our students are studying the same time periods and civilizations at the same time, they are able to talk about them across grade levels and have meaningful academic conversations.
