Elementary School - Chronos Grammarians
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 4th Grade at Chronos Academy
Chronos Academy’s unique academic program is designed to inspire deep questions and encourage our students’ intrinsic motivation to learn. Our goal is to develop a lifelong love of learning based on confidence and a growth mindset, where students find satisfaction through pursuing challenges and pushing their horizons. Chronos students learn from the beginning that their words and ideas are valued, and can be used for connection, inspiration, understanding, and to make change.
At Chronos, learning is
Rigorous but with many points of entry for different learners
Open-ended, without limits to what a child can accomplish
Full of rich hands-on experiences in our Makers Workshop and Art & Music Appreciation
Enhanced with weekly hikes, field trips, and theater
Collaborative with multi-age opportunities
Young learners possess an insatiable curiosity and an inherent passion for life and learning.
We believe it is crucial for children to be in a learning environment that both celebrates their talents and understands their unique needs.
I’m getting surprised every week about what he’s learning in school. He’ll rattle off the Greek alphabet like he’s talking about Pokémon cards or teach me something new about computers. Thank you so much, Chronos Academy.

TK & Kindergarten
Lower Grammarians
Because TK and Kindergarteners grade students are particularly adept at memorization, they sing, dance, chant & play with the same subjects their older school-mates are studying. To MAKE it memorable, they create integrated projects every day.
1st & 2nd Grades
Middle Grammarians
1st- and 2nd-graders keep singing, moving, and signing, while adding more rigorous academic skills
3rd & 4th Grades
Upper Grammarians
Our Upper Grammarians dig more deeply into all subjects. They learn to be self-starters and are comfortable working independently as they tackle greater academic challenges and look ahead to Middle School.
What Does Grammarian Mean?
The term Grammarian comes from the classical model of education.
During grades TK, Kindergarten, and 1st-4th, children absorb information like sponges and love to imitate everything around them. They absorb everything from commercial jingles and silly songs to lists of random facts.
These are the years in which the building blocks for all other learning are laid. Our students develop the disciplines of learning (times tables, fundamentals of reading and grammar, etc.) through repetition, song, and play.

The Importance of Nurturing Giftedness
Chronos Academy offers a uniquely nurturing environment for gifted TK-4th Elementary school students in Marin County. Nurturing giftedness in grades TK-4 is crucial because these early years set the foundation for a child’s lifelong learning habits, motivation, confidence, and self-identity. When young gifted learners are consistently engaged and challenged, they’re more likely to develop a love for learning, curiosity, and perseverance. These attitudes are essential for long-term academic success and personal fulfillment.
The benefits of fostering giftedness early go beyond academics. Nurturing giftedness promotes well-rounded development, confidence, and a love for learning that supports students’ future successes. To learn more about the needs of gifted students, click here.
